If a date you are looking for does not include a room choice the date is not available. If you are booking a Pet Room and it is not available to choose that means all Pet Rooms have already been booked.

Note to Parents: Children 17 and under do NOT need to be listed on your reservations on our site or any 3rd party site. Adults 18+ are the only names that need to be listed. We love to know when you have children visiting so we have extra towels in your room - just leave us a note in your special requests. We do not charge for children 17 and under. This will save you the additional fee for extra guests when booking - ONLY adults need to be listed.

Remember when choosing a room for your reservation, you must choose a Pet Friendly Room, even if you are choosing thru a 3rd party Booking site.

We only have 4 PET FRIENDLY ROOMS.

If a 3rd party site or our own here are not showing a Pet Friendly Room available for the date you are trying to book, that means there are no pet rooms left and we can not accommodate any more pets on that date.

Our Story

Fox Mountain Inn, a charming 10-room roadside motel established in 1982 and is conveniently situated at

exit 84 on I-81 in Max Meadows, Virginia. Offering a serene escape, the Inn provides tranquil and spotless rooms with a personal touch. Owned by Photographers Jim and Michelle Overdorff as of September 2024. Avid motorcyclists, they fell in love with the area and both looking for a change of pace that could incorporate their love of motorcycling, photography, and people., found FMI to be just what they were looking for. Their love of animals has kept FMI pet friendly and their need to have a place that welcomes everyone to sit and chat around the fire or engage in a peaceful welcoming environment, to fall back in time when life was simpler, and people were friendly, Our mission is to not only offer comfortable accommodations but also to highlight the local charm, attractions, and events of the region.

Many great named motorcycle rides are easy to get to from Fox Mtn Inn. Make us your home base for a few days and enjoy. Have a group that needs 5-10 rooms, Jim can also lead you on several backroads rides with scenic curves and destination photo opportunities.

Our Cancellation Policy

As a small, family-owned inn, every reservation truly matters to us.

Cancellations — especially last minute — have a big impact, and we appreciate your kindness and understanding.

Individual Reservations:

If your plans change, please let us know at least 48 hours before your first night, and we’ll refund your stay minus a $25 processing fee.

Because we prepare each room especially for your arrival, cancellations within the 48hrs,day-of cancellations, partial cancellations, or early departures are non-refundable.

Group Reservations:

Our group rates are based on the number of rooms and length of stay. Cancellations made 15 days or more before arrival will be refunded minus a $25 processing fee per room.

Cancellations made within 15 days, as well as partial cancellations or early departures, are non-refundable.

We're grateful for your understanding - and for supporting small, family-run lodging like ours.

Experience the flavors of Virginia when you explore the area or enjoy Mexican fare at Cholula located adjacent to the inn, just steps away. Open until 9pm M-Sat. We also have a grill onsite if you want to cook your own meal.

Relax and unwind nightly at our firepit. Mingle with fellow guests, cook s'mores or just take in the peacefulness of a warm fire. (pending weather/wind/fire bans)
